ABBAN LASTOVICA, OWNER/MANAGER

Abban has owned Paws and Claws Pet Resort alongside her late husband, Robert, since its opening in 2003. In 2021, after working as a teacher and dyslexia specialist in Fredericksburg ISD for 20 years, Abban assumed the role of Manager at Paws and Claws, where you’ll find her working hard to ensure you and your pet have a great experience.

Abban received her B.S. in animal science from Texas A&M University in 1984 and has always had an affinity for animals. Her beloved Beagle Polo and cat, June Bug, garner her attention at home, but she truly enjoys getting to know each of your pets and their personalities during their time at Paws and Claws.

Abban’s favorite animal: Dogs, because a dog’s love is loyal and unconditional.

JENNIFER “JENN” ALVAREZ, GROOMER

Jenn joined the Paws and Claws team in 2021. Her favorite part of the job is giving pets haircuts and collaborating with the rest of the team. Jenn’s favorite animals are elephants and favorite breed of dogs are Golden Doodles.

ALYSSA HEIMANN, GROOMER ASSISTANT & KENNEL TECH

Alyssa joined Paws and Claws in 2023. She enjoys getting to take care of all of the animals as if they are her own. Alyssa’s favorite animals are cats. She received a cat as a birthday gift when she was four which became her closest companion for 19 years.

ANNA HERNANDEZ, HEAD KENNEL TECH

Anna began working at Paws and Claws in 2023. She enjoys all of the dogs she gets to interact with and getting to know each of their personalities. Her favorite animals are dogs because of their trainability.

JADA SCOTT, KENNEL TECH

Jada joined the Paws and Claws team in 2025.
